Clearing out my flat and found a bunch of old gear that was left by a former flat mate. No idea what it's like or if it's even worth keeping...
So far identified:
PPentium D 3ghz
Geforce 9800gt, 512mb with vga, dvi and hdmi output. (plus a motherboard for those two)
Also a boxed gigabyte h61ma-d2v mobo, appears to be micro Atx and for Intel core chips.
Plus another tower that I haven't opened yet.
Other tower appears to be a Dell dimensions 5000 with some kind of unidentified p4 and an Asus graphics card that's maybe an 8500gt.
And an audigy sb0570. I'm thinking I may have the beginnings of a HTPC here...
One of them graphics cards will most likely handle hardware decoding. Stick it all together and try openelec.
Unfortunately, a "PPentium D 3ghz" is worth fuck all.
If, however, it was a 'Pentium D 3ghz' it would be worth Steve Manthorp travelling to north-of-the-border in order to shag your bum.
Thank heavens for the additional 'P', eh?
They're only s fiver on eBay, I didn't realise the Throb had pit his prices up that high!
As my TVs are only 720p I might get away with running some games on the 9800. Coupled with an i5 in that mobo and some rams and a cheap htpc case I may have a funky little movie and old games box.
I don't like the power figures for the pentium D - well over 100 watts!
Yeah those Pentium Ds are hungry. I've got a Pentium D 805 somewhere that is of absolutely no use now.
It's barely even worth putting it on eBay :-|
Old games box as in PC games from a few years ago, or an emulator/MAME box?
