It turned up today. I did start to panic that it might come with a power adapter with an American plug on it. UK style though, luckily. Made in China, sent to USA, then shipped to me. I'll be able to watch everything in lovely 5.1 surround now :)
I did a quick check about Volumio, but do you know if it will do podcasts? If so I might have to build one.
In what way?
You can download and stick the downloaded podcast somewhere.
I'd prefer to stream it. I'll have to do some checking.
If it can be made into some sort of playlist then it will work fine.
I've found a lot of neat projects. Did you see the one that turns your Pi into a FM transmitter? I've also found one that I can use my little screen with and it shows the artist name/station name. I started gathering parts for it last night but ran out of time.
Just got it working, easy as raspberry pi. Goes through my amp with the TV off now I have the spdif splitter.
I assumed it would have some GUI on the TV too so I thought it wasn't working at first. Nice web interface on the phone, but lines of text too long wrap over themselves and makes itnimpossivle to read some things.
Working well so far. I've found the Sound@home app a bit easier to use due to the overlapping text in the web app. It doesn't have the library so have to browse the folders instead, not a problem.
My old Creative speakers are a bit shit though. Need something in between them and my far too big for the room speakers.
Have to remember to keep the playlist topped up later when people get here. Good find Ant :)
You're welcome.
Hope it worked out well.
