I recall needing to have a link to a pre-32,768 post in our sigs for replies to work.
Do I also remember pinking being a thing? Exploiting bugs to make entire threads pink - perhaps as part of offensives against hostile forums?? Mikeee had a hand in that IIRC.
It was code in the signature that overlaid the reply button with a link to a thread on npcff. I seem to remember a lot of people getting very pissed off - posts were made in random forums (parenting, pet advice, all sorts of stuff) and it was HILARIOUS.
the ones that took it in good spirits were nice though.
I think I was involved the second time we did it, I remember me and Xen and Andee and maybe some others coordinating it all over MSN or something like that. And I got briefly banned for it too, goddamnit.
I think I first met a bunch of y'all at (quite possibly) the first meat, at the Founders Arms. I think (though I may be wrong) that Truffy was there, and I think that's the one where Milko's unusually sized arms were first pictured; though thinking about it, that photo might've been taken at a later meat.
ACTUALLY the arms pic came from an entirely separate event (my birthday party) and I'm not altogether sure how it came to be here! Now, put your face into this glue.
Twas a glorious era, really, that! To be fair to Delphi, for all its flaws it was quite unique and ahead of its time really. Even now, other BBS systems are pretty "meh"
Fully agree. Just checked my profile and found (interestingly enough) that this is my 11,111th post here. Kind of shows just how much stuff used to get posted here, and on Delphi before it.
Forum wise, apart from a few graphical tweaks, phpBB and the likes are just as unfriendly to use as they were 15 years ago. Frames FTW!
