I jumped on it straight away and sold my Xbox copy as I only played it twice. Its brilliant and beautiful and I can't stop the fun. Managed to get a gang of mates playing last night, the races are a lot of fun and the Team deathmatch are just manic. There are a lot of weird network problems going on at the moment though which did spoil a few jobs.
This is what we as a group have always wanted, a place in GTA world to hang out and do stupid stuff. together.
Back when I had a PS3, I tried to register HeyRatFans (as I do for literally everything else), but PSN wouldn't let me use it. I checked and it definitely wasn't taken and it was fine with Hey-Rat-Fans though, so it wasn't a length thing, they just wouldn't let me use it.
I got GTA V in the last week or so and while I've enjoyed it to an extent so far, it's starting to grate a tad, with all the driving becoming essentially delivery missions. I have zero interest in discovering the whole map which seems to be expansive. 10 years ago, I would no doubt have considered that a good thing. However, with less free time nowadays I'm just focussing on the story, which is a protracted mess. After roughly 5 hours play time I'm honestly not sure which NPCs I should be paying attention to and which are just fillers.
I've yet to meet a game "story" that is not a protracted mess. Except for some user mods in GRAWF2 (yeah, now I remember, "Sanchez missions". Sanchez was a crazy fucker with a private army you had to find and kill over 5 missions). Those missions were awesome. I might try reinstalling it on my xp box one of these days/months/years.
Anyone know if FC3 has a cli console & cheats?
Edit: Whalp., I found this rather unsatisfactory list:
Aye. The best narrative I can recall in a game is the Secret of Monkey Island. And that's only /because/ it's an interactive story, so literally lends itself to the narrative.
Others games I can think of that are a bit up their arses when it comes to story is the Thief series along with the Elder Scrolls. As Xen mentioned on this thread some time ago, recent GTAs are overblown and are trying to be a 2 hour gangster movie spread across 30+ hours of gameplay. :C
Much as I hated the premise and most all of the FC3 story, it was considerably redeemed by some epic firefights in the last few levels, where (e.g.) you had to rescue dude's bro and he flies a helicopter badly while you man the mounted HMG.
Also must admit the story in the original Sniper Elite looked promising, I just couldn't get past the hideously awful retro-primitive graphics (which I suppose were cutting edge in their day).
