And I think both should be held accountable. The person for what they did, and their parents for what they didn't do. Such as preventing access to their weapons by anyone except them, plus having the ammo stored elsewhere and secured as well.

A lot of people are far too lax when it comes to securing dangerous items from others.

Very true, as well as many other things in this world.

It seems many things today are not handled or stored responsibly. I remember a guy I knew commenting on how he thought the human race was actually devolving back to apes. Seeing some of the stupid crap that takes place in the world these days, I sometimes wonder if he might not be right.  ;-)

True enough, although guns can be used for food and making holes in the wall more easily than getting the drill out. But the only-dangerous-if-it-falls-into-the-wrong-hands argument is pretty much the same.
