word.

A big project I want to do is use a Pi as a remote starter for my car.  I've seen people have already done that so it's possible, I just don't know if I'd have time.

I did actually mean world and misread word. Mine may involve a map and time zones.

I thought that question was for me, sorry, I didn't mean to answer it for you!

You will be sorry :@

Any idea how I can identify transistors I've ripped out of an old PSU? They have some codes on them but can't seem to match them up to a transistor type,

No I don't.  I'm lucky if I can identify a resistor.

I think it might not be possible. I assume they're manufacturer codes rather than the actual transistor type. One I thought was a transistor (from something else) is a something or other shunt. Also in a TO92 package.

The app I recommended not long ago is useful for working out resistors. By value or by the stripes.

A resistor resists (stuff). So, if you try to do stuff to a thing and it doesn't comply, it's a resistor. I sincerely hope this helps.

That's not the part of a resistor I have trouble with silly!  And I don't really have trouble because internet, but it's the silly color stripes that I find annoying.

If you come to a beehive, you gotta expect stripes. Innit?

The RTC arrived today. Soldered some header pins onto it (soooo easy, I thought it would be more difficult doing stuff like that) and got it programmed with the time. Waiting for some other bits to complete the clock.

I did try and get my LCD running with only 3 wires from the Arduino and a shift register but the LCD just sat there blinking it's cursor on the first line so I don't think it did work.

However I have fucked up (I think, I haven't tried it yet) the 2 line LCD that came with my Arduino. I was trying to remove the header pins and solder longer ones onto it because they're too short and don't fit into the breadboards.

Removing the pins was easy enough but when I tried to remove the solder with wick so I could put the new pins in the traces on the board started lifting and I made a right mess of the thing :S I will try it to see if it works but I doubt it.

I don't miss those rectangular pads at all. For what it's worth the Mega Drive had the best pad of any console.

Also, well done on ripping off making a working tetris! :D

They are good, it's the only pad I've liked the analog sticks on, good for driving games, but they're crap for Street Fighter. The six button mega drive pad was brilliant.

The dpad was the best bit, I can't describe it adequately, but it kinda 'floated'.  :-Y
