It's not a very accurate clock. It was about 3 seconds out this morning, so after about 6 hours. It uses the millis() function so probably not that accurate (or my time keeping code is bad). Could probably tweak it though. Think an RTC would be easier though. One on the way. I like the word clocks. Seen a few of them made with Arduino. Have a look for Equinox clock. Not a word one but I like it lots. This one will be an alarm clock which will /hopefully/ help me get out of bed in tthe mornings. That's a bad ass clock! Too bad it couldn't be battery powered, the power cord needs to be gone. I'll have to look into that! word. A big project I want to do is use a Pi as a remote starter for my car. I think it might not be possible. I assume they're manufacturer codes rather than the actual transistor type. One I thought was a transistor (from something else) is a something or other shunt. Also in a TO92 package. The app I recommended not long ago is useful for working out resistors. By value or by the stripes. Me

A resistor resists (stuff). So, if you try to do stuff to a thing and it doesn't comply, it's a resistor. I sincerely hope this helps. bastard by name bastard by nature

That's not the part of a resistor I have trouble with silly! The RTC arrived today. Soldered some header pins onto it (soooo easy, I thought it would be more difficult doing stuff like that) and got it programmed with the time. Waiting for some other bits to complete the clock. I did try and get my LCD running with only 3 wires from the Arduino and a shift register but the LCD just sat there blinking it's cursor on the first line so I don't think it did work. Me

However I have fucked up (I think, I haven't tried it yet) the 2 line LCD that came with my Arduino. I was trying to remove the header pins and solder longer ones onto it because they're too short and don't fit into the breadboards. Removing the pins was easy enough but when I tried to remove the solder with wick so I could put the new pins in the traces on the board started lifting and I made a right mess of the thing :S I will try it to see if it works but I doubt it. Me
