Argh, windows 8 is becoming quite annoying already! It wanted to use an email address to sign in with, so i used my gmail address. What I din't know, or appreciate at the time, was that this ties into everything, including Skydrive and Xbox. Unfortunately my Skydrive and Xbox accounts are on an old msn.com address, which means that these apps are now completely useless!
Create a new user account with the MSN address? Or better still just create a local account and them sign in to the relevant services (Store, Xbox, etc.) with said email.
I actually like it on my ultrabook. There are still some things that they've made quite a bit harder. It could be that I don't know the correct way to do it an easier way, but I don't think that's the case.
I also still use it at work, and on a non-touchscreen it's pretty shit. There really should be a way to pick the interface you'd prefer to use.
