Just got back from Ars Electronica. Same old same old, lots of geekery, some actually worth seeing, lots of beer, lots of sausages. The big live event that takes place on and around the Danube, the Klangwolke, was a bit of a disappointment this year, but had one highlight: a flock of computer controlled, networked quadricopters, with ultrabright LEDs forming a free-flying screen in the sky. The thing that pleased me best at Ars this year was this: The Free Universal Construction Kit, a set of open source, 3d printable adapters that bridge ten different proprietary construction toys.
