Right - so you'd still have to craft/smelt stuff then - you wouldn't be able to hand yourself a load of tnt for example?

It gives you unlimited of everything - no crafting/smelting/etc needed.

No, I think it is literally everything. Whatever block is available I think you can use without crafting/smelting.

No, I missed all that, coming late to the Minecraft party.

I quite like the grafting, as people've said it's a better sense of achievement when you complete something. (I'm only saying that now 'cos I'm not building anything, when I start work on whatever project I know I'm going to want to have everything I need to hand) It'd still be nice to be able to give myself a few diamonds every now and then rather than smelting another set of iron tools. I'm digging out Chris's hole (NJ) at the moment and while that's yielding a nice supply of iron and coal it's not giving me much else which is frustrating. I do like just digging though - it's kinda theraputic late at night.

You need to dig deep for diamonds, fairly close to bedrock, maybe do some strip mining. I've churned out quite a lot whilst doing the tunnels.

Diamonds are most likely to be found in layers 10-16 above bedrock. I think this video explains it well enough.

I've found a few, just not enough. Whenever I make a diamond tool it usually gets used up before I find anymore.

Might hollow out the bottom few layers of the hole later tonight, see what I can find.

Cheers lad, I'll have a watch of that tonight.

TBH gold ore seems to be rarer than diamond at the moment.

Have a look in my mine, the entrance is near the middle of my wall. The pattern I use in that is apparently the most efficient for covering a particular area, i.e. the minimum number of tunnels needed to uncover all potential mineral nodes, with the least amount of travel. I'll try to make a diagram of it, if it isn't clear from walking around inside it.

As for the grafting thing, it definitely affects what you try to build if you know you'd have to collect all the materials first. I wouldn't have been able to build a valley in the sea if I'd had to collect all the wool first.

(wool for putting in place of the water source blocks, of which every block of sea is one. Replace water, burn wool, voila, instant hole-in-the-sea)

Must be richer seams in different places. When I started strip mining near Xen's citadel I found all sorts of stuff there, now I'm mining around the hole and am finding lots of redstone/iron ore but not much else. :C

That is true. I like the idea of the full graphical inventory rather than having to remember the item codes.

I'm lazy like that.

Underground now goes to the Citadel. Could do with linking it to the main circuit there too.
