I ran a server a few minutes ago to try out multiplayer nether and... it doesn't work. Completely fucked for me. So yeah, a few more bugfixes before it's viable I think.
But yeah, Zenechka is really missing the server so you'll have at least one grateful user.
I think peaceful mode style damage model is fine (i.e. replenishing health) and reasonable warps. But not infinitely able to spawn blocks of any sort ... it just kills half the game - it's so rewarding to have to mine stuff in order to build stuff. Maybe only let mods make warps and not have many/any (other than you) mods. And mods could spawn stuff we can't get in peaceful like bones (to get wolves) and stuff?
For me, it's starts off scary (in a fun way) then after a while just becomes a fucking chore because of the sheer volume of zombies and shit coming at you all the time.
As I said earlier I would, but I don't think my puny HP NL36 will handle it too well... Did you find that it made a big difference to have a faster CPU?
Right, didn't do it last night, need to find somewhere to put the computer where I have a spare network socket. So that'll be attic or under the stairs, probably attic.
It made a bit of difference, but not hugely. The server code has been getting much more efficient, and craftbukkit is much more efficient than hey0 was.
I intend to wipe WHS and install WHS2011 first, so it might take a few days.. I don't think anyone is in a rush though by the looks of things.
