Full scale would be huge but very impressive when finished. I say go full size.

For full-size we need either:

1) Kos to temporarily take the server offline and use a map editor to do the bulk of clearing. (Assuming that's possible, not really sure what's involved?)

2) Enough people to volunteer to clear it - and before you volunteer do go check how much Jon and others have done so far (at most 1/8th of the half-size area, so 1/32th of full-size, in 24 hours.)

Someone should put some markers down to (erm) mark the corners or even edges of the clearing, and the right depth.

Would make life easier after that.

Are we buidling on rock or dirt or whatever's there already?

There is a large path at the depth. I was down there last night (yj).

How big is my valley, out of interest? If it's of a comparable size to what you're suggesting then Yes We Can. If the area we need is like twice as big, I think we can still do it, if people volunteer - my valley was pretty much hollowed out by me and one other person.

If it's not even close, then yeah, some kind of level editor hax might be in order.

The edge of the clearing is approximate - and should be a slope rather than a vertical wall.

I've already put three white towers to mark the center, the banana-shaped entrance/welcome building and the core building ( I got lost trying to locate the big dome location in game :( ) - check the 2 attachments above for details.

So if somone wanted to use those to work out where the yellow line is, and draw a dotted yellow line of wool around the area, that'd be good.

Annoyingly, T-Mobile bastards have suddenly claimed I've used my "unlimited" Internet already this month, from a handful of youtube videos and some streaming audio. :@ So I wont actually be back on until I've finally switched to Three, prob by next week. (Which is what I was looking at when they sent the notification... twats were probably stalking me.)

Anyway, yeah, someone put some yellow wool at key parts of the border and then people know what they're clearing.

Oh, and it'll probably mostly be dirt, but some bits sand, and paths of either stone or sandstone

Had a little look around today and it is a mammoth task, just clearing out all the ground. I still say do it full scale though. It obviosuly won't be done by the 14th, or whatever date you said, but could be more of a long term project.

Where's your valley on the map?

If it's in a black area then place (and optionally remove) torches until it renders all the blocks for it.

(I'm assuming you've got multiple monitors so can have map on one and Minecraft in the other; if not, you'll need to do some alt-tabbing, at least until the new monitor you order arrives.)

This is a rough idea of the scale of the project. The grey areas aren't even down to the proper level yet so there's soooo much wok to be done just clearing away stuff :O

Hmmm, something's not right there. :S

The two markers towers there should be in the same place as the red dots - but even if you align & rotated the image the distances would still be off. :/

Think that might have been because I used an isometric map when working out where the to put the towers, and it's closer than it should have been.

In theory, if someone moves the non-center tower 50 blocks east and 5 blocks north, then the image can be rotated 90° and it'll be in the right place then... maybe?

I didn't check the alignment with the way you'd planned it, just wanted to get an idea of the scale of it all which is BIG!

I rotated the map 45 degrees to so I could measure the picksles easier.

If you shunt it left a bit.

The current in-game center tower should line up with red spot in my previous post attachment - basically it should be ... er, just above the icerinkgiant underpants, roughly where a belly button would go. :S
