This laptop with a 2.2Ghz P4 Dual Core (not C2D) with intel graphics plays it fine (with fog set to pretty close :$)

Try the free online Classic version - it doesn't have mobs, but will at least tell you if you've got any chance of it running.

I built over half my cathedral with proper mined materials, but I had to cheat for all the torches, then I didn't stop...

I'm gonna set a warp point at the top of that. I'll do that now actually. Ok, done.

Use /listwarps to see the possible warp locations.

Yeah, but have the /kit command so that it only gives you a diamond pickaxe and a diamond spade. The rest you have to work for.
