So far I've just been reading about it, not playing it. But I'm sure some of you avid games players are way ahead of me. Having fun?

Apparently the chap who made it has got very rich now. Score one for the small guy!

It's absolutely brilliant. Like a big lego playground but with baddies and such. Seen some absolutely incredible designs ingame.

It's great yeah. Important too, as commentators have said. In that it's nothing like what the big studios think a successful and captivating game should be like.

Very procedural. Very much about deciding for yourself what's fun for you and doing that. Utterly compulsive.

Wayne's video is funny and so is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF9xMNuAfwE

I don't really get what happened. Did he just get killed while trying to make something?

There are things in the game called Creepers. They are like walking green phalluses. When they get close to you, they explode. They are very very frightening. A Creeper happened while he was in his inventory.

I went a bit stupid and bought it as well, not quite sure why... played it for about 4-5 hours first time around, but now it's becoming a bit difficult and I'm losing patience :(

ok I got it. So far I have made a wee cave house with a back door, and some tools and that. A spider killed me, and there are very scary noises. Cool! Also I went on Mikee's server but nobody was in.

Yeah there were 3 of us earlier, but all is quiet now. Come find our little dungeon thing!

I'll probably be on there most of saturday night. :)

I'm mostly looking forward to the future multiplayer survivor development. Quite like the idea of a bunch of us teaming up to try and survive in a hostile land and eventually starting a working settlement. Can't hardly comprehend all the stuff you can build and make with it though.

Gonna turn off my server :(

Your Linode, linode19423, has exceeded the notification threshold (1000) for disk io rate by averaging 1250.18 for the last 2 hours.

Um, that's just the default alert?

The thresholds are set deliberately low so they can be tuned appropriately, and the alert alone is not a sign that you're exceeding any maximums/limits.

Hrumpf. Servers sitting there on 90-100% RAM used by java the entire time too. I don't want to go having to pay money at the end of the month.

Java servers will generally do that - occupy as much RAM as they're given, even if they're not actively using it.
Check the Minecraft docs for a way to set the memory limits, and lower it to something more reasonable.

Also, I'd go check on the Linode forums for how to make sure you're not doing anything that'll result in extra payments. I don't remember there being fees for RAM use, but I didn't look into that in detail.
