In IE you can do this:
code:
<tag title="firstline&#10;secondline"/>

And it splits the title popup onto two lines.

In FF it ignores the newline and just shows one line.

Anyone know how to get FF to behave?

(Without using a third-party HTML-hover library thing)

I thought most HTML stuff was supposed to pretty much ignore the formatting of the input HTML file and to stick stuff onto the same lines unless line breaks were explicitly mentioned. In which case, I'd consider IE's behaviour to be erronous rather than FF's.

No, HTML ignores whitespace. But &#10; is not whitespace, it is a HTML entity which explicitly indicates that a newline character should be inserted.

Ah, sorry - just noticed that Beehive had evaluated the entity and was showing a newline. Ooops. Fixed the post now.

Ahhh, gotcha. Obviously I was commenting on what looked like a tag which was physically split between two lines. In which case, dunno then. :(

All four of these work in IE, none of them work in FF:
HTML code:
<button title="one&#10;two">A</button>
<button title="one&#13;two">B</button>
<button title="one&#10;&#13;two">C</button>
<button title="one&#13;&#10;two">D</button>

Searched Bugzilla to see if anyone knows about it?

Not bad. I thought this song might be anti-God, but it seems more to be against the president, which is cool by me.

Yep. It's there. Along with the usual rambling shite you tend to get from crap developers trying to make up an excuse not to fix bugs.

Have you tried physically pressing 'return' in the middle of that?

Like:

code:

<tag title="FirstLine
SecondLine">Blah blah</tag>
