Sorry mate. That thought process is long gone. Were well into Winter now. All my 2006 Winter memories have been created now. My mind is readying itself for Christmas now. The Christman songs are a distance away in the middle of my mind.
The momment for Winter track selection has gone dude. Its faded away. Its shadow has been cast. The fire is out.

nah, winter got moved
still sat waiting for me to have time to do something with it. (and it's my hard drive now)

[edit] actually, thinking about it, your winter could be that long, I forget Cornwall gets better weather than most places most of the time.

In the NE of England, Winter is usually December to February. We're still in the back end of Autumn at the moment and come March, that's when Spring tends to come along.

I'd have said end of Dec to end of Feb too, I've been out in a t-shirt today, it isn't winter yet.

Speaking from not too many miles away from Trig, it's pretty bloody wintery here, it has really taken a turn in the last few days, but I'll probaby wait for a good two sustained weeks of winter to proclaim the season in full swing.

Daz, I'm not really too busy at the moment and am reasonably experienced in putting compilations together and doing silly photshop playing about, If it's a pain in the proverbial for you then I can take on the burden,

 up to you

Well it's cold here, but we're not yet down to freezing temperatures and frost though. That generally starts around December time really.

right,

I will be reviewing all that has gone before but not all that seriously, in general this is the beginning of submissions, things people really want on there should be re-submitted.

I will be doing the bulk of my searching on Soulseek. anything obscure should be marked as such and I would appreciate attemptes to send me copies (PM for EMail addy)

I will make the compilation a maximum of 80 mins long for recording onto a standard 700MB CD. lodge any objections here.

themes to consider are as follows

winter

xmas

cold

wind

rain

snow

frost

chestnuts

er....

that's it.

PMing still has teh buggered for me. If you can't find the Chris Cozens track (which is probably the more interesting), email me at steve@manthorp.co.uk. The Pretenders track shouldn't be too hard to find.

Good woman.

I reiterate my suggestions of Wizards in Winter by the Trans Siberian Orchestra and The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth by Bowie/Crosby.

I'm going to be awkward and suggest 'untitled' by Sigur Ros, from the ( ) album (it's track number 3, but all 8 tracks are untitled). Give me a PM if you can't find a DL of it and I'll put it on my server.

I'd like Kalpol Introl by Autechre, from their Incunabula album. I tend to play it when the first signs of frost appear. Either that or the Imposter's Mix of Tricky's Christiansands, which usually what goes on after it.

Or, to get away from the bleak coldness of winter, how about Merry Christmas by Wesley Willis, as demonstrated here. How could one's cockles not be melted?

*Awaits post from Trig saying it's stupid and gay and the only people allowed to write songs about Christmas are East 17, because they did it in the '90s*

Bright Eyes - When The President Talks To God
Not bad. I thought this song might be anti-God, but it seems more to be against the president, which is cool by me.
