My maths supervisor gives out gold stars in such situations. Last night he told me "Well done on the test." Coming from Bob Dillon [yes], this Does Not Bode Well.

Well, bloody well sod you, then. If we're going to abandon the fantastic future we were creating in favour of icy car action, well, it makes me wonder why I bother going on. I could have just given up the fight with the wheel in the wee small hours of Sunday morning and slipped quietly into oblivion.

It was a cold, clear night, and I was driving home after seeing a couple of gigs in Glasgow. I was hanging a right round a roundabout, clutch down, braking gently when the engine cut out, taking the power steering and braking with it, nearly putting me into the verge. I'm not sure exactly what happened, because I was kind of on autopilot, but I'd been half expecting it to lose grip a bit because it was icy, so for the steering to suddenly become extremely heavy was a shock. I was able to coast down to a side road, then had to handbrake it to stop, turn the alarm on and off to reset the immobiliser and start back up. The car ran fine the rest of the way.

But it sickens me when people drag a sensible thread off topic.

(Sudden Cardiac Arrest would be a bit redundant, anyway. I mean, in medical terms "sudden" is synonymous with "acute," which is the opposite of "chronic." It's not like anyone is in a state of CHRONIC Cardiac Arrest. That's called "dead." The closest thing would be Congestive Heart Failure, which can be either chronic or acute, and if that's something you need to worry about, then your doctor's already told you everything you need to know.)

So what you're saying is that you were driving along and you didn't crash your car. Jesus, what an anticlimax.

Hey, if Wibble can post about all the great stuff he's not bought, I can post about my far-death experiences.

When I was a kid, I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord, in His wisdom, didn’t work that way.
So I just stole one and asked him to forgive me.

Ask Dyl about my driving skills on the way back from Durham :$ (fail)

I don't think I'll try that series of events again.
