123-reg = GoDaddy

Fuck!

"Up until 2017, 123-reg was part of Host Europe Group, which at the time, was Europe's largest privately owned hosting company. In April 2017, GoDaddy Inc completed the acquisition of Host Europe Group." (Wikipedia)

That explains why they're attempting to scam customers by sending renewal notices for domains 123-reg have registered without asking, and pre-adding some of them to the basket when you think you're only renewing other domains.

I think a fair few people here use(d) 123-reg, if so take extra care when renewing any UK domains and/or consider moving to another provider.

Yeah, any .co.uk (and possibly .org.uk) domains may mean you automatically got a .uk version registered on your behalf a couple of years back.
