Yep, the price is fairly high, you can pay £2 for a 100g bar of the Lindt here. But when a ~40g Yorkie goes for anything between 60 and 90p in vending machines and shops, it doesn't look that bad.

What does it cost in Canada? Presumably there's some import markup adding a bit extra to the price.

Usually $3.50-4. Sometimes on sale for less. Varies a lot by chain.

Great big "Presidents Choice" (house-brand)  belgian bars go for ~$5 at "No Frills" supermarket, $7 at Shoppers Drug Mart across the street -- both chains owned by Westons.

Seconded for Dairy Milk. Or Daim. Or both. (I'm currently chugging one of these bad boys).

At the other end of the scale the crappiest chocolate we have is probably that found in Kinder eggs. Or advent calendars.

I remember watching a documentary about chocolate some time back, and the expert saying that good quality stuff should always make a snapping noise when you break it. Kinder eggs tend to crumple.

Cheap Easter eggs also. There's some absolutely pants chocolate used for those.

Yep, unless it's Cadbury's.

Where's Kenny when you need him?

Not a fan of "white" (wtf) chocolate either.

White chocolate 2-penneth:

Milkybar is amazing but only comes in minute quantities otherwise the sugar content will kill you.

Does anyone remember Cadbury's 'Dream'? That had so much promise, but tasted like shit.

Now these millennial-liberal-elite-themed things on the other hand were a revelation. Haven't seen them in a very long time :(

They were a bit like a hard milky way.

I don't mind white chocolate, there're some good ones with a strong vanilla flavour, but s'not really chocolate as all the cocoa solids have been taken out and you're just eating the cocoa butter and sugar.  :-|

You say "you're just eating the cocoa butter and sugar" like it's a bad thing  :->

Chocolate without cocoa is like non-alcohol beer  (fail)

Nope, not at all, I just don't think it's chocolate anymore.

I tend to agree with you about most Merken chocolate, but Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel is like a piece of heaven... so delicious. If you ever have another chocolate exchange I'd be happy to send over a bar to prove it!
