Thanks!  I do kinda wish we were going but I'll probably be better off staying home.

How much do you usually spend? Will it just be a case of you not spending that money this year?

I'm looking around now online and because there's nothing I need (already have a decent TV, just got a replacement phone, don't really need a new laptop etc) nothing is taking my fancy.

Oh, actually, if I can find a cheap Chromecast Audio I'll buy one.

It just depends.  My wife has most of the shopping done already, that's why we weren't really worried about not going.  We will just finish online.

I was just going to say, this is 2015 - you don't have to drive to the shops to go shopping any more :)

Yeah, but the insanity is where all the fun is!

I was in Florence at the weekend, to run the Marathon, and even there, there seemed to be "Black Friday" promotions happening. Except they extended to the Monday as well. I went into a shop to buy a scarf, and got told that if I bought two items, I'd get 30% off. So I bought another scarf. Then they told me I could get a free haircut if I wanted, so I ended up sitting in a shop window on one of the main streets in Florence while a strict Italian matron went at my beard with the clippers and passers-by took selfies with me in the background.

Strange days.

I suspect you might have accidentally married her/her daughter without realising it. Better check your receipt carefully.

Wouldn't be the first time that has happened. I think I got away with it though.

I once married my chemistry teacher. From the back row of the classroom my friend acted as priest and performed the service. She happened to say 'yes' at the appropriate time and that was that. We never consummated the marriage, so I guess that's grounds for divorce some 19 years later. That said there was never any paperwork, no trail. I doubt even the feds would be able to find me.

How did the Yew Tree interview go?

Fine, I suggested that she started it all, and implicated her as the antagonist.

They offered me tea and Werther's throughout.

Why is black Friday stuff still being advertised?
From: ANT_THOMAS 2 Dec 2015 17:45

Because not enough people bought the shite on offer so there's left over stock.

What Ant said. It's nothing to do with my alleged sham marriage to my chemistry teacher, whatever the world may think.

I'm waiting for curry's to send me a 25 quid gift card. Suspect they're being slow so I can't use it against black 'friday' prices. :(

So you're saying that this annual tradition of appeasing the retail gods is to keep your side of the bargain?

No, I'm /not/ saying that.

Tsk.

Ah, right. You're /not/ saying that. My mistake. (nod)
