Or a Toshiba one for 50 quid on Amazon.

(should probably note that by 2.5 inch what I really mean is usb bus powered. It's going to sit hidden in a shelf, I really don't care what size it is a long as it doesn't need a separate power cable)

The last drive I bought was an external one I took the drive out of. Seems to be better deals on external drives these days.

Wonder if there's any kind of major sale events coming up.

They're for NAS only.

Nah... the WD Reds are optimised for NAS (they are rated for double the load/unload cycles over, say, the WD Greens) but they can be used elsewhere as a regular drive too.

And one in
Unit 6 Houndstone Retail Park

Judging by the comments on Hot UK Deals it seems it was *fairly* wide spread - even had some available to buy online and on their ebay store :(

I got one  :-$ I'd ordered a 5TB Seagate initially from Amazon, then realised that the WD Elements is £10 cheaper and has an extra year of warranty...

I nearly bought a Toshiba external drive that was on offer in Tesco (seen it without an offer for the same price since though) and was going to rip the HDD out of it. Luckily I'd found out the drive inside has a proprietary connector soldered to the drive. And the USB connection on it is crap and comes loose causing connection problems.

Not this one, is it?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00KWHJVCY/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1448411828&sr=8-2π=SY200_QL40&keywords=2tb+external+hard+drive&dpPl=1&dpID=31xhG4sjxJL&ref=plSrch

Planing on plugging it into the xbox and forgetting about it, so as long as the connector lasts for one plugging (NJ) then I guess it's OK.

Same model I think but a 1TB drive instead. I think it should survive one insertion (PJ).
