Streaming video recorder

The eldest school was on telly this morning (it was some God awful we love the Queen bullshit), I've been asked to record it somehow. It's on the itv player, and I tried cam studio(?) to record it, but no matter the settings it'd record abut 4 fps and no audio.

Movavi screen capture sid a good job, but demo versionversion has big watermarks on the captured videp and Jim's version doesn't work.

What should I try next?

Vlc can do screen capturing quite nicely.

Open capture device, desktop, then select stream and save to file.

Will it be on TV again? Might be able to record it for you.

Doubt it, just some shitty royalist bullocks that was on for all of 40 seconds. Never thought to try VLC, I'll give it a whirl and see what it makes of it (would broadcast stream be DRM'd somehow? Was surprised screen capture worked at all, tbh!)

Might want to play with the codec settings because it will depend on your CPU speed as to whether it can do a decent framerate and bitrate.

Try get_iplayer. It's a Linux command-line tool to download the stream directly from the provider's servers. Despite it's name, it can get content from ITV Player and 4od too.

I didn't know it did the others. Thanks for pointing that out!

Yeah, except it doesn't appear to work any more with the latest version. D'oh :(

Moving to a country without a monarchy worked for me.

Alternatively you could try independence!

get_iplayer can download from itvplayer.

edit: Having now scrolled down I see that this has already been posted. I have shamed myself.

Hah - that particular show isn't even available on the catchup player! Assumed it would be, as I watched it/screen grabbed it live on their player. Oh well, people will have to put up with the shitty watermarked version I already have. It was utter bollocks anyway.
