Mobile microphone

Does anyone know if it's possible to connect a microphone to a mobile phone and still have the audio come from the speaker, not the headphone socket?

What are you actually trying to achieve?

Voice control in my car. I have a Bluetooth speaker on my visor but it's unreliable when used for anything other than calls.

I was thinking of running a microphone up to somewhere it could hear me clearly and plugging that into the phone in the car.

Isn't there some sort of car dock thing that'll do this for you?

Or are you saying that's what you've got and they're all shit?

I don't have a dock. It's a Bluetooth speaker attached to the sun blocking flap above my head. I don't find Bluetooth works too well with Android.

I have just downloaded Bluetooth Launch, though, and I've used it to launch Google search when the button is pressed on my speaker. So far it seems to be working well. see if it works as well while driving.

Well, surprisingly, it works rather well now. I know I've tried using Goofle search with my Bluetooth speaker before and it wouldn't hear me. And it definitely didn't activate with the screen off.

I did try sending a message to someone yesterday and it was a good thing I checked what it said before sending because it asked the recipient "would you like to be raped"

I'm glad you at least got Goofle search working.

Its like Google but gives you goofy results.

Oh man, with your entertaining mobile typing, if the voice-activated stuff leads to that kind of text message I think its best that you don't try it.

Does it count as rape if you ask first? :S

I don't know, can you consent to it?

Depends who I'm sending it to I guess. Some people I could explain it to, I don't think it would be a good idea to ask some people of they want to be raped though.

I think my mobile typing is getting better. I really should find another keyboard. I use Kii and one of the bog reasons is because it has a number row at the top of the keys. I probably spend more time correcting things that a different keyboard could actually be quicker.

I've been using SwiftKey for years. I did try Kii but much preferred SwiftKey.

I don't have the number row visible, but I've changed the delay length of the long press to get a number so it's much quicker.

I think that's what I used to use but I was trying to find a keyboard that made better use of the bigger screen on this phone. Might give it another go though.

I'm glad that there are bog reasons for using Kii. Presumably they make it easier to fish your phone out if you drop it in the toilet.

One needs to take these precautions while on the bog.

Definitely time to find a new keyboard. I didn't even notice that :S

merely the second sentence after saying you were getting better as well.

I like it, please keep this Kii thing, whatever it is.

SwiftKey can have a permanent number row too.

:) Maybe I could add the occasional deliberate mistake, although I don't think that would be as funny. I thought this large screen would make typing easier. I miss the buttons on my old Nokia phones.

Oohh, interesting. Last time I tried it I'm sure it didn't have that option.
