Sounds like you need a client on the NAS with the WebUI that you just paste magnet links to, no need to have any torrent software on your PC.
That does sound ideal. Looks like Transmission could work on it. Not sure how easy to get it working. I'll look into it I think.
Have you ever managed to get the client/server method working with Deluge?
I have the daemon running on my Pi, and wanted to run the client on our laptops. Basically make it function as if it were u torrent running locally, but all the downloading happening on the Pi.
I got it working fine with the Web interface, but I find it a bit clunky compared to running a native app (and also lacks the file association integration stuff)
I haven't even looked at that but I might. I just purely use the web interface to admin the server, seems to work well enough for me.
If I could make Chrome open the webinterface and pass the magnet link when I click on a download then it'd be all right.
I use qbittorrent, which is pretty much μTorrent without the annoyances, but with some of the nice visual touches missing as well.
Looks like that works the same way as the deluge client, but I'll give it a whirl.
Is that stable now? Last time I tried it was really flaky :(
I suppose since I don't have a torrent client on my PC that clicking a magnet link doesn't actually do anything for me, so right clicking one and using the addon option it sends it to my server running deluge and starts it downloading.
Same here. uTorrent 1.8.2, mainly because it's small, fast and certified by all the private trackers I use.
I might use that for now as it will do everything I need it to. Then see if I can install another client on my NAS that can accept magnets.

I was going to install that on my QNAP NAS until I realised that QNAP have their own Download Station. I have no idea whether it's any good but there's one way to find out.
I just need to find something worth downloading :/
The entire Police Academy franchise? Plus the DVD extras.
Either that or Judge Reinhold's back catalogue.
It's funny (not really) how differently we go about things. I only, ONLY ever use a torrent if I can't find it on News Groups. Do you guys not get these nice things (attached)? Turns out I just got this today. I can count on my hands and feet the amount of times I use a torrent in a years time, yet I get this bullshit.
I had the same reaction. It's a big deal, yet the fucks can't spell it correctly.
But no, I haven't ever had anything like that.
There's some cases of a dodgy law firm sending out letters to people to pay some money to prevent a court case, usually referring to a porn movie, probably to embarrass them into paying up to keep quiet.
My issue with newsgroups is the whole paying to pirate idea.
What are they actually going to do? Apart from cut you off?
