I would consider that but I think you missed the part about him being an ex Navy Seal?  He currently travels out of country to retrieve abducted children.  I think he has a particular set of skills and I'd rather he use them on someone else!

So does it live?

A bunch of us got the go ahead yest day to design and build a quadcopter at uni. And the university is going to pay for all the parts :-D

He sounds kinda scary. Personally, I like making friends with kinda scary people. Success!

Make it powerful enough to carry a decent camera.

It's definitely going to have video, wireless comms (for video and control), gps, and proximity sensors. But I think the goal is to also have it run with an autopilot.

I'd quite like to mount some kind of nerf type thing on it, too.

Fuck you Kos, stop deliberately spawning Skynet..

I did that on Friday with lego mindstorms ev3.

Yup.  It has two bad motors but I have replacements on the way.

I am going to build one myself I think.  You will have to keep us updated on the one you are building!

Are you sure it's the motors and not the ESCs?

Yeah, I've tested each connection with working motors.

Yeah!  I have received my new HD keychain camera and my FPV kit has been shippped, so I hope the motors come pretty quick so I can do some FPV flying!

Oohh, nice. I'd like to try a bit of FPVing (YJ?). Lucky it was only the motors that were damaged after being in the water so long.

It looks like a blast! Yeah I'm pretty lucky that that was the only thing that got damaged.

Hopefully you won't lost signal when you're flying around somewhere you can't see and LOSE IT FOREVER!

When I feel like I'm good enough to go miles I am going to get a GPS system for it.  I have my eye on a UHF system that would let me preprogram a route and it would then fly unattended.

I have so many things I'd like to do... I'd like to build one using my Arduino stuff but on the other hand I'd like to buy a 350 QX2 as well.  I wish I would just hit the lottery or get a fat bonus!

The new controller board finally arrived today!  I replaced the old one and did some testing.  It flies again!

Then I loaded it with my transmitter and new camera and did a few lifts to see how it would do.  I need to make/buy a cloverleaf antenna for the TX.  The stock antenna is the heaviest item and without attaching it the 180 seems to do fine.  I will be interested to see how much the added weight decreases the battery life.

Does it swim again too?

I'm sure it would if I let it but I'm avoiding water for now!

Fit floats and submerge the camera?
