Anyone got a spare/old android phone?

Just wondering. My youngest daughter has informed me that she no longer needs the mobile contract I've been paying for her on account of dropping her s3 mini into a pond. So I have a year left to pay on it and may as well use it. I've got a shitty old Acer phone that is just painful to use so if anyone's got an old phone that's better that they don't mind passing on for cheap I'd be very happy to take it away. T-mobile is the network

I have lots of old phones. The only ones you might be even remotely interested in are the two BlackBerrys( quad band GSM), one 9700 Bold(TM) and one 9810 Torch(AT&T). But they are BlackBerrys.

I have a brand new Moto X Android (AT&T), but the screen is cracked. There is no Gorilla in the room for Gorilla Glass3. They want $175.00 to repair it which is ridiculous. I'll wait until it is about $50.00 and just replace the glas which is all that is wrong with it. All they needed do was put a thin silicone seal at the edge of the glass for a surround and that would eliminate silly breakage from a light fall. The very fact that this cracked from a 18" fall to a carpeted car floor makes it maddening.

I have a number of dumb phones, a Samsung SGH T669(TM); LG Sentio(TM); Samsung SGH A-177(AT&T); (2) Motorola 490 flip phones, black and green and both have weaker batteries although one does last the whole day. Batteries on the BlackBerries are fine and I have two for the 9700. One has an edge of pink on the moisture indicator but I do not know why; it has never been wet.

Probably too much information already for what I would guess would be no interest, but at least you got one response.  :-D

I did! That makes me feel a little less hated. Thank you!

You'd also have to check if they'd work over there but I suspect they would. anyway, anything you fancy would be cheap, only ones really worth much are the BlackBerrys and I can likely only get about 26 pounds for the Torch and maybe 16-18 for the Bold. Does that work out to about 35 U.S. and 20 U.S. roughly?

I have a really fucked HTC desire.  It might have a bit of a lease of life if you root it (I never did).  You're welcome to it if you want it, but it's no prize.

Thanks Steve. I bought myself what must be one of the cheapest kitkat handsets going yesterday - an lg l20 from car phone warehouse. £29.95. It'll be crap but it'll do for what I need it for. Absolutely appreciate the offer, though :)

Does that make it a HTC undesired?

Looking at what they go for on eBay, I suspect it'll be cheap for what it is but too much for me!!

Sorry it's taken a while. That seems more than reasonable (the lg phone has turned out to be complete shite). Is it in good condition etc? Any chance of a piccy? Might just take you up on it...

I'll post up a piccy or two tonight when I get home. As far as I recall without looking at it it's in near perfect condition. I was planning on using it as a kitchen XBMC mini-telly or something, but never got around to it.

Obviously the battery is a good couple of years old, but it still holds reasonable charge.

I will check with the wife first as 'technically' it is her phone...

Oh, and can you let me know if it's network locked and which model it is please :)

(Being awkward. Sorry)

I honestly don't know if it's network locked...it was 'purchased' as part of a contract with Orange (I think), so I suppose it's likely.

I'll see if it's got a model number on it somewhere when I get home tonight.

Sorry bud, didn't get a chance to sort out the photos/model last night as I ended up playing snooker with the old man, and as an aside, I feel very smug about smacking him down with a 58 break in one frame.

In all honesty, it'll be tomorrow evening as it's the monthly cult/crap film night tonight after work.

Stay tuned...
