Sky sagem router

I'm currently using a sky range extender thing to connect my sky box to wifi, which works but it's annoying when phones and laptops randomly go offline as they switch between the two wireless signals.

I've got a spare sky sagemcom router, can I use it as a bridge or something instead? Would be ideal if I could connect sky box, Raspberry Pi and ps3 by wires to that and then have it route the traffic over wifi to the other router and not have two wifi connections going on.

EDIT: Oh wait, I think I've read that wrong. Don't believe you can make it bridge to the other WiFi, but it can act as a separate AP if you can run some ethernet cable? Not sure if that's any use.

Yep.

I think I've done EXACTLY that with a Sky Sagem router. There's no specific access point mode but it can be used as one.

Change the IP to something other than the 192.168.1.1 (as long as it's different to your main router IP - I just used x.x.x.2 - and change the DHCP range of your main router to exclude that. I just use 192.168.1.100-254 so I have some space below to set some statics). Turn off DHCP on the Sagem router. If you want to use it as an extra AP you can hop between use the same SSID, same WPA settings and key.

If you want a totally separate AP use a different SSID.

Just want to use the wifi to backhaul to the real router, don't want devices to connect to this one wireless ly.

It's not far to the real router but the cat attacks any cables we run (rented so can't go under floor boards etc.)

Homeplug?

Though I assume you're going for the free option here.

Nope, I think I looked at it when I was in my flat with the bathroom internet lightswitch but never bothered installing it.

It's not annoying enough to spend money on. Just wondering if I could do it with the gear I've got lying around.

Might give it a whirl and see what options it gives.

Doesn't seem to work with my router (mine is on firmware 7.something, the custom firmware is 6.something)
