I Googled this but haven't found a definitive answer. Is a reboot required after a Kernel upgrade?

I'm pretty sure Matt said you see the status of the thumbs up and down in you profile, but I can't find that info anywhere in there. Can you see it in yours?

To take advantage of the new kernel goodness, yes. To keep on using the old kernel until such time as a reboot is convenient, no*. Advisable, yes. Procrastinatable, often.
*sometimes some stuff gets shutoff during the upgrade, and you really do need to reboot to get it back up
