Ok Folks,

For those of you that are jumping on this one.

Skype Addy is fozza101
However - "The person with the most stable and fastest Internet connection should host the call" Skype Manual (Also listed in the Common Sense Manual)

We will be doing a double ender recording - Yes I know it sounds rude.
The term is a throw back to the old days in broadcasting where because of the bandwidth limitations on satellites, people would record global interviews with a lag delay. Each side of the interview records their inputs onto videos and the two videos are sent to one studio to mix back together as if the interview were happening in real time.

Dropbox - I have set up a tehpodcast dropbox account
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jglztd4k00drz78/VkrosP9J5q
After recording we drop our files here.
shouldnt need it but if you do account details are tehpodcast@fozza.co.uk password is beehive

Audacity - For Ease and For Free - Can we all install and record at the defaul project rate of 41,000hz

Check for background recording - Possibly the best way to do this is call the skype echo test and leave a reasonable long message and then playback and record what you are saying whilst the message repeats. If you can hear any bleed from your speakers or headphones into your mic then correct before recording.

I guess a proper team talk server like ventrilo or mumble isn't being used before of voice quality or something? Feels like you guys have to do a lot of effort to get around this chat lag issue..

Couldn't you use something like a google hangout? You should really be doing that so that video is included as well.

Why would you want video?

Why not? I'd like the option to dl a version with video or just the audio version.

Even ignoring the video, if Hangouts possibly doesn't have the lag/echo issues that Skype does, it might be worth trying?

(It also allows people to see when the recording is in progress and send in random messages to the speakers?)

They can already do that using a wonderful invention called The Forum.

There's no way to see when the Skype call is active.

I'm sure most people are capable of reading the post from Fozza saying "we're recording at 9pm on Thursday" and then cross referencing with some kind of time and date device.

And I'm sure that a post saying "we're recording at 9pm on Thursday" does not guarantee an accurate start time (people might be late), nor does it confirm who is involved (people might not turn up), nor does it say whether the recording is still active (will they all be three hours long edited to one hour?), nor does it mean there's a convenient red box which automatically updates when messages are received, etc.

It originally said 8, then Fozza updated it i think once the correct time was known.

Do you need to know who is currently on skype recordibg to send a random message? If so, log into skype!

And the great thing about beehive tracking read messages is that it's easy to see when there's a new one.

Using Hangouts rather than Skype does not prevents any of the features of Beehive from working.

Logging into Skype is a lot more effort than checking a page in a browser, especially if you don't have a Skype ID, haven't shared contact details, and don't have the client installed on the particular device being used.

Are you just being a whingebag because you're too lazy to re-activate your G+ account?

With Skype, no.
With anything else, depends on my mood and availability.
