Which 16:10 Monitor ?

> So now I guess I wait until Monday to see if they actually dispatch it, or I start the hassle of getting a refund and go somewhere reliable.

As expected, still no shipping notification, so I called to ask what was up, and was ultimately told it would be 2-4 working days from dispatch, and as that hasn't happened it wouldn't be with me tomorrow.

So I said I wanted to cancel, and they said they would get back to me later today, after they have confirmed with the warehouse team that it hasn't been dispatched. Uh... well, maybe they happen to have a courier pickup at that exact time or something, I dunno. This guy didn't seem as useless as the one I spoke to on Friday, but didn't fill me with confidence either.

A few hours later, realising it was almost 5pm and I hadn't heard anything, I phoned back, and this time spoke to a helpful and polite CS agent who was able to reassure me that it will be cancelled, said it takes 3-5 working days to refund, and so to call back if that hasn't happened by this time next week.

Meanwhile, I ordered from CCL who will deliver tomorrow, and took 38 minutes from order acknowledgement to send dispatch notification and tracking code.

Let's open the bets. Does Pete receive his refund? Or two monitors?...

I'll take "they both arrive, but the first one will be a mis-boxed 16:9 and a week later a damaged refurb is left outside the door." :<

Nah! Everyone changes. Just don't blame your past on who you used to be. It was you.

I admire your commitment to screen resolution/aspect ratio.

At home I'm using a 4K 43" TV as a monitor.

I'm going to have to think whether that makes me feel jealous.  :-S

It sounds great but there's definitely drawbacks, it's certainly not a perfect setup for many reasons.

I thought it would be interesting to hook up my desktop  pc to our 34" 1080p TV for gaming, but the logistics of moving shit around makes it more trouble than it's worth.

Huh? Past me was awesome.

Always so much smarter than everyone else, never needing to worry about what's around the next corner, nothing I couldn't do.

Some would say that we just become more realistic as we get older. I'm less than 18 months away from being 70. I don't feel any more realistic. A bit grumpier maybe.

On the trying-to-be-optimistic side, I did get the refund without further chasing, no unwanted deliveries.

The other monitor arrived from CCL and (despite a scuffed box that made me paranoid) appears new and works adequately.

I missed that it was CCL. I've used them a few times without problems. Anyway, that's all good, no?

I've had 3 x 24" 1920x1080 in the past
Then during covid a temporary 2 x 21.5"
Realised that was reasonable but wanted more vertical resolution. The 43" 4K is like having 4 screens but it being flat isn't the best. Also can't decide what height it should be.

Must need a ton of GPU oompf to drive it.

3 year old laptop running an AMD Ryzen 5500U
Nothing spectacular. Most difficult bit was finding a USB-C hub that supported HDMI 4K 60Hz without costing a fortune.
