I used to live near Mt. Desert Island and spent a fair bit of time walking around its various attractions (I think Ant was there a year or two ago?). I suppose £1,024 would buy you a few nights in one of the fancier hotels there.

(it's one of the Disappointment Islands)

I'm disappointed that my offering hasn't been generally accepted as the only rational answer. I'd allow 'strong drink' to cover most opiates as well.

Sounds like the worst named collection of any place to visit. But at least it sets your expectations.

Well I generally question the rationality of contaminating oneself with such substances, but it is at least a proper answer, which is more than pencilhead and pixelface have given.

Strong drink and a fleshlight.

It's sometimes difficult to get an answer out of people isn't it? Assuming you luck in and discover an island with a pizza oven and the whole gamut of ingredients for making the pizza, what toppings would you go for?

I'd get a bike for traveling and exercise, some food if the island wasn't going to provide and some all weather gear.

You go to your "desert island", I'll stick to my Mt. Desert Island, thank you very much

I did like Acadia quite a lot.

I've thought of this occasionally over the past days, but I really can't think of much. Solar panels and my Kindle? It'd be nice to get some reading done. Maybe some fishing gear and the means to make fire and chop up the catch etc.

I think I'd quite enjoy the peace and quiet really. How big's the island, is it worth bringing my mountain bike so I can make some sweet jumps?

So... you'd bring Manthorp?

Well you'd have to be there to find out, not traipsing round penguinland.

Uh...

"French explorer Samuel de Champlain's observation that the summits of the island's mountains were free of vegetation as seen from the sea led him to call the island L’Isle des Monts-déserts (meaning island of barren mountains)."

That photo doesn't look very barren to me.

:D

That's far more the sort of answer I was expecting.

That's a plus, in my estimation.

I'd much prefer a warm tropical island. So I'm going there.

Do you anticipate sharing these three or so months with anyone else on your choice of island or are you looking for a deserted desert island? If other people are taken out of the equation I'd still take the aforementioned items and a device for playing music and hope for an indigenous pizza oven.

Temperature on Pukapuka is hitting ~37C this afternoon, and some great whites are circling for feeding time...
