You have a budget of £1,024 to prepare for a 64 day stay on a desert island.

What do you buy?

Over budget, and you'd still need to wait until the last day for it to arrive.

Probably what you'd expect it to be doing on a desert island.

Peter, I believe you're being flippant for the sake of being flippant. I assume you're alluding to the trope of desert islands being little palm tree studded areas of tropical idyll. There are islands off the coast of Antarctica where the environment is considered desert, but would be far from the climate of an island in the Bahama region. Plus such islands are often stuck with hurricanes/typhoons depending on locale. So, I don't really know what to expect from a desert island. As such you should probably pack a cagoule. Just in case.

I also suspect this is some high brow joke considering the numbers you've included there.

In that vein, my favourite high brow joke is:

A man once successfully cooled himself down to absolute zero. He's OK now though.

By "high brow" do you mean "pretentious attempt at being intellectual that would be frowned upon by anyone who actually works in Kelvin or knows anything about absolute zero"?

Oh... I thought you were planning a trip and needed advice?

Flippant? Not in the slightest.

If your preference is being shipped to Antarctica instead of flown to Bermuda, you are welcome to order appropriately.

I wouldn't say pretentious, as it's just a joke, so in no way meant to be taken seriously. Think of it more as being rarefied in joke telling terms. A slightly more artful play on words then you'd get watching Michael McIntyre on a Saturday night.

If I'm free to choose which island I'm journeying to, i'd like to pay a visit to Pukapuka. For no other reason than it looks like a giant winklepicker shoe from the right angle.

I used to live near Mt. Desert Island and spent a fair bit of time walking around its various attractions (I think Ant was there a year or two ago?). I suppose £1,024 would buy you a few nights in one of the fancier hotels there.

I'm disappointed that my offering hasn't been generally accepted as the only rational answer. I'd allow 'strong drink' to cover most opiates as well.

Sounds like the worst named collection of any place to visit. But at least it sets your expectations.

Well I generally question the rationality of contaminating oneself with such substances, but it is at least a proper answer, which is more than pencilhead and pixelface have given.
