Camper Van

Sorted the solar panel, done some cabling, waiting for insulation to arrive so I can get on with that.

100W flexible solar panel. Not had a decent day of sun to really see how well it performs.

Temporary setup for charging the battery from solar. It is charging, but not as quickly as I had hoped, but do need a sunny day to find out properly.

Done some cabling today and put up some temporary lighting with an RF remote control for dimming, hooked up to the leisure battery

Been intermittently sunny today and it has charged much more than the last few days, so it gives me hope it should be good enough.

Also made a Web dashboard of sorts with some voltage data and GPS Tracking

O_o So I guess that massive heatwave last week was just a southern thing?

When it's super hot are solar panels more effective, or is it just a matter of direct sunlight from a cloudless sky gives the same amount of energy in winter as in summer?

Direct sunlight is needed, or preferred at least to get the most power generated.

Direct sunlight in winter is less useful as it is less intense due to the angle in incidence. Same as why it's colder in winter than summer. Earth tilting away from the sun rather than towards the sun. Same light beams spread further. You obviously also get less hours of daylight in winter, but that's got nothing to do with the intensity of the light.

Still generate some whilst cloudy, just nothing like a clear sunny day.

nothing good. Just some spammer saying "Nice!" and having a link signature to some women's clinic in India. Bo-ring!

Surely you are depriving all the Indian women lurkers a valuable tip?  (wrong)

Panel seems to be doing a reasonable job. Done some tests with lights on for 8-10 hours and fairly happy.
Started the insulation process over the last couple of evenings. Kinda just winging it, hopefully it won't be too rubbish.

Will post some work in progress photos later.

About time I posted an update

Did some carpet lining

Bought some wood, cut a frame

Built the frame

Bought some more wood, made the surfaces

Started to tidy up some electrics

Bought an airbed - which fits very well

Can the airbed be inflated and deflated without getting out of the van?
