Never really done much Facebooking myself. Gosh, my phone recognised that as a word. Oohh, and red underlining in the text box in Chrome on my mobile, that's new.

I joined in the era of PCFF and the '1st to 1,000,000' thread. Re-re-found pics from old meets the other day and now I have a scanner I intend to scan them soon for everyone to see.

The mere act of handing over a smelly babbit is revenge enough.  I can't wait - and it won't be that long - until I can demand that my own nappy be changed.

Oh yeah, the first to 1,000,000 thread :D How far did that get?

Still not met anyone from here. Anyone fancy a Swansea meat?

I seem to recall it broke Delphi after 32,768 posts :)

Haha, yeah, i remember that now. Did they fix that?

To: Chris (CHRISSS) 78 of 103
Heh, it took them absolutely years to fix the "view 20 posts" on a page, so I very much doubt this was ever fixed. If anything, it was probably more a technical limitation due to them using a 16bit signed int for the post counter. I very much doubt they'd re-write this just to satisfy the very occasional mega-thread like this :)

How great is it to see so many people in here that we haven't seen for ages. Completely understandable that people get busy and don't post, but this was my favourite place to visit every day for the longest time and I miss you guys! Glad everyone is saying hello.

 (aww)  (nod)  (heart)

Hey! I'm genuinely surprised at how many clearly still check in. We have become a community of lurkers, unfortunately

I recall needing to have a link to a pre-32,768 post in our sigs for replies to work.

Do I also remember pinking being a thing? Exploiting bugs to make entire threads pink - perhaps as part of offensives against hostile forums?? Mikeee had a hand in that IIRC.

Wasn't 'the Castle' a target of that jolly jape?

Also, the extraordinary trick of causing replies to one thread to appear in a completely different one.

TAK did that the most, he posted lots of questions in different Delphi forums and had them all reply on NOTPCFF.

Haha, what? You could reply to a post in one forum and it would appear in a different one?

They obvously didn't expect that many posts in a thread, like Youtube and 2 billion views.

Those were the days. Was there ever a PCF team fortress server or something, ISTR something about that

It was code in the signature that overlaid the reply button with a link to a thread on npcff. I seem to remember a lot of people getting very pissed off - posts were made in random forums (parenting, pet advice, all sorts of stuff) and it was HILARIOUS.

Ahaha. That's daft being able to cover up the reply button. Clever :) I don't remember that but remember the pinking.

Think it was the same technique as pinking. Back in teh days before user HTML was properly sanitized :'D
