Congratulations mate. Enjoy but don't get bored, that's when the sofa monster gets you. I have watched my mum slowly become a couch potato over the last year and its heart breaking. We can't get her to do anything except walk to the shops, watch TV or read books.
My wife is going back to work in September so we have asked my mother to be a carer for our daughter which will hopefully bring her out a bit more.
Unless there's a spider or aggressive looking doorframe around, in which case please back away calmly and sit yourself down until the situation can be resolved.
Well, it wasn't rambling but it did contain all those cliches about missing the people and not the work and how some of them I'd seen every weekday except for holidays for the last 30 plus years etc.
It doesn't matter how cynical I felt about the company towards the end of my time there, it was a big change and it would have felt phony to say anything too prepared or disparaging or whatever.
I took pity on the assmembled masses and kept it brief.
