The rats chew plastic to help wear their teeth down as they are continually growing and the plastic tastes sweet to them. Perhaps if they eat enough of it, they will experience the same feminisation that befell trout is some of your local streams I remember hearing about (plastic manufacture waste effluent containing an estrogen-like compound, as I recall), causing reproduction difficulties.
I should like to visit Horncastle, BTW.
IIRC the predominant oestrogenic component was found to be oestrone and oestradiol from (particularly pregnant) women, not other effluent. Oh, and also something to do with rising temperatures, fish apparently intersex over temperature.

If that's the case, why would anyone in their right mind want a 'staycation'? Unless, of course, it involves staying away from Horncastle.

Looks quaint - although I don't much care for Sherry, leave her out of the Trifle, please.

So they made the mice horny? lol
Happy, Healthy, and fully in control of their element...
I imagine they were quite happy with themselves, and just about every other mouse crossing their path. Good thing a slow moving cat didn't get into any of those cages. lol

Oh by the fates! That poor little thing looks do pitiful. I wonder if it's cold. If they're going to do that to it, they should make it a little mousy blanket. :)

I would never shave my cat. Chaos is too evil. He'd get revenge. lol
