If you really wanted to remove all the Google stuff you'd remove Android as well!

If you were starving to death, would you turn down half a jellybean favour of waiting it out for a whole one?

Good catch!  I can't see how useful an Android phone can be when you remove all the Google Apps.  It would be like removing all the Apple Apps from an iPhone, except, well, they don't let you.  Could you imagine the outcry if Google did that?

Some of the stuff is admittedly bloatware/crapware and you can disable it. Some have interdependencies though, so YAMMV.

Native Androids are better; for my part, the next phone I buy will be unlocked, rooted and at full price. I don't want anybody's nonsense on the phone that I don't want - which is why I chose Android Native in the first place. Samsung, et. al. add their own crapola as part of the OS. No thanks.

We have to put up with some, such as the Google (Motorola) crap. Wonder how long before we can actually build our own phones with OSS... (drums)

I was mostly hinting at the fact that Google is the maker of Android, so if you don't trust their Apps why the fuck would you install/use Android.  That's not you personally, that just anyone who doesn't trust Google.  And so could you imagine if you bought an Android phone and couldn't remove Chrome or some other non-essential Google App?  People would lose their minds, but that's exactly what Apple does!

You've gone through 5 androids in 8 weeks?

Impressive. (worship)

Funny thing is, people are [generally] OK with giving Apple unfettered access to everything. They have very successfully mind-conditioned their sheeple into obeisance and allowing full control. Because it is Apple.
