I'm looking for a new ten incher, apparently 8" isn't enough for her - I told her she'd want a bigger one to start off with, but she didn't listen. Maybe, John.

So what's good nowadays? Nexus 10? Tab 2 10"?

Chaaars!

If I was to replace my Tab 10.1, I'd probably go for the new 10.1 Note. The pen is amazingly good fun, especially for Draw Something :C

I did like the Asus Transformer that I left on a plane. Obviously much newer versions about now.

Doesn't Dan have the Nexus 10?

My daughter bit the tip off my Note 2 pen :O Haven't played Draw Something for aaages. Was good for that. Still works but not so easily.

I love my Nexus 10 and I'm in no hurry to upgrade but I recently got my brother the new Samsung* and while I'm not as keen on the UI, it does feel a lot nippier.

Having looked around PC World I rapidly concluded that flagship was the only way to go, too. The cheap and cheerfuls really aren't in the same league at all.

*Not going to lie, I forget which one but it was 10 inches, high spec and comes with a pen.

That'll be the Galaxy Note (either 2 or 3) 10.1. Lovely bit of kit.

Now that's a good idea. I might even get enough to buy a new S Pen.

rumour has it that a new Nexus 10 should come out any time soon. I'd be a bit grr if I bought one now and then that happened. But they're all pretty floaty insubstantial rumours it has to be said.

Is that the whole pen, or just the tip itself? The original Note 10 and Note 3 come with replacement tips, I'm pretty sure the other Notes do too - hope so anyway.

What Kos said - the 2014 version has higher resolution and looks more like the phones, and they've upped the resolution to 2,560x1,600 - shiny!

Yep I've heard about that too, I can safely hold off for a few weeks anyway until Xmas.

Just the pointed tip of the pen. Unfortunately with the Note 2 the whole pen needs replacing. No replacement tips.

£7.95 ? Probably cheaper somewhere else.

I think it was that one I had a look at before. The reviews didn't seem to positive from it not fitting in the phone properly to the pen being registered either too close or far away from the display and there's no potentiometer like in the Samsung one to adjust it.

OK, so it looks like either the Note 10.1 2014 edition (which will be better than mine, humph..) or the hypothetical new Nexus 10 so far. I'll see how it goes.

Probably too small (9") but them Nook HD+ tablets are now around for silly cheap prices. I have the 7" version (the Nook HD) running Cyanogenmod and it is bloody lovely. No GPS, 3G or cameras, mind.

£130 for a 9" tablet? Very tempting. Might get one as a Christmas present. For myself.

That IS cheap!
I actually ended up getting her the 2014 Note 10.1" - a bit expensive (ouch..), but it should keep her happy for a while. Now I just need to make sure it's insured...
