I assume Macs can fuck up enough to not have internet access?
I think they have some sort of GUI recovery mode thing that can connect to the internet, which implies that if a Mac can't access the net (assuming a connection is available), something is really badly wrong.
I think.
I should probably find this stuff out, in case my MBP gets ill.

Hey double post, awesome.
Hey double post, awesome.
That's the Apple backup kicking in. It's like having two computers, for the price of three.
But they just work so you never have to do that, and as Caer says they have a GUI option which connects to the web without an OS installed.
I felt like PB as well when writing it. Still doesn't change my opinion though of the fact that almost all modern laptops force a fucking shit aspect ratio onto you :-(
But there we go!
I really don't care about the aspect ratio change from 16:10->16:9*, what bothers me more is the prevalence of low resolutions masquerading as high resolutions: 1366x768 screens are everywhere, marketed as "HD ready!" so that consumers think they're getting a nice high-res screen, despite it probably being significantly lower than what they're upgrading from. :@
*after all, the difference is approximately fuck all: http://www.master-hard.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/16_9_vs_16_10_thumb.jpg

Well all you had to do was say.
Jesus, it's not like I actually read the bollocks I post.
I don't know what it looks like.
Good move! You're very fortunate in that regard (which has got to make up somewhat for the misfortune of not being English)

The difference is enough - especially on smaller screens. Still, the laptop has arrived and it's bloody lovely. I actually feel a bit jealous that it's not mine...
My current laptop is 1200x800, which is already a bit small height-wise, but the lost 32 pixels going to 1366x768 really isn't going to make that much difference.
I miss my old monitor, with its 1200 vertical pixels :(
True, but the problem is that you can often go for a bigger laptop and yet lose resolution. I've seen plenty of 15" laptops with 1366x768 resolutions, yet the simple 12" laptop I have at work which is 2 years old has a 1200x800 res. Similarly, my GF's old laptop was a fairly simple and basic Lenovo with a 1400x900 res, yet most competing laptops only had the 1366x768 res. And going from 900 vertical pixels to 768 is a noticeable downgrade.
Thankfully, the new laptop has kept the same vertical res. Overall though, whilst the laptop is mostly awesome, the screen doesn't feel like an upgrade from her old Lenovo.

The point bing that Kos wouldn't type a space between a ':' and 'D'. Your comment, therefore, is one of reductio ad absurdum, and I claim my
two brick.
