Lots of Watts

I stumbled across an IR thermometer on eBay with has a laser pointer so you can accurately zap things measure the temperature of stuff. It doesn't mention where you can get a 9V battery that can produce the required 500,000W for it.

It doesn't require 500,000W.

It clearly requires less than that.

Well, yes, obviously that is true and <0.5MW could even mean 0W. It is a little unclear. Would one require a mega powerful battery or not? Not that I am going to buy one, just confused.

I'm not sure if you're joking, or genuinely hadn't considered that 'M' may be a typo for 'm' :?

I'm sure he knows that, and I'm sure the point of Chris' post is pointing out the confusion caused by the typo.

(He is an electrician by trade, after all*)

Quite plausible, although I would have expected some indication of a ruse, like emote or blue text. A (fail) would have been quite appropriate, no?

Yes.

Really? I'm surprised most people/everyone didn't realise I was being silly. If not then you are all silly :P

Megawatt laser stuff is the kind of thing that shoots down missiles and not something that would be much use on a thermometer. It would burn whatever you were trying to measure :) And about a billion times more powerful than mW stuff.

No, no, no. Blue text is for quotes, not for sarcasm. Haven't you learnt anything on this forum in the past couple of months?
