Does this piss anyone else off?

While I kinda agree with Jon about the absurdity of the situation, it cannot be denied that there is a simple pleasure to cooking and eating outdoors, expescially (I'm leaving that in cos I have no idea how my fingers, brain and netbook keyboard conspired to make that happen) communally.

Dirty fucking communist.

There is no comparison to grilled food and fried food, if you say there is you are /wrong/. Us colonials don't have grills in our kitchens, so we either have to use a broiler, a George Foreman Grill, or a frying pan.

A broiler is a pain in the ass and almost always sent my smoke alarms off. The George Foreman is my favorite way to grill in the winter. And if I wanted something fried I'd go to McDonalds.

Chicken in Italian dressing on the grill is like a sore peter.

You don't have kettles and you don't have grills?!?!?!?! What in the name of fuck did you revolt for if you continue to live in such abject fucking depravity.

You may as well retire to the back country and live out your days in a wigwam (if you don't know where that's from I'm revoking your american privileges).

Do you even know what sort of grill we're on about?

Our grills heat from above and are usually built into an oven.

Not really, we have toaster ovens and pots and pans, and a broiler in our ovens, but no grill.

And I don't know what that quote is from, where should I mail my card?

That's a beautiful graphic. I'd almost be tempted to make that my wallpaper if I didn't already have the best wallpaper in the world.

It's a broiler. I think it's similar to what Peter showed me but it's under the oven on our models. It's a real pain in the ass to use, I don't know anyone who does use them. Most people grill outside.

And grilling for us isn't just a summer thing. There are people I know who will stand out in the fucking snow to grill. I'm a fair weather griller myself.

I never saw 1776, I'll have to see if Jim will lend it to me.

You've never basted chicken in Italian dressing? For fuck sakes man, do it!

I don't know what Italian dressing is. Do you mean like salad dressing? I know how to make at least a dozen salad dressings using common Italian ingredients.

I was more shocked by you saying that you have a chicken in your kitchen that you cook on.

What Drew said, what the fuck is that?

Peebs photo is awful

Open the top door, electric element on the top, heats downwards grilling the food from above.

Grills here tend to heat from the top. And they do so either with fire (if they're gas, which is more common I think) or with a bare electric element if they're electric. The food doesn't touch the thing providing heat, it just sits on a wire rack like when barbecuing. They don't involve any sort of hot plate like that ridiculous thing seems to. That looks like some sort of frying pan built into a drawer.

WTF?

Real grills are above the hobs and don't have doors! :@

(It's an awful photo because it wasn't a photo of a grill - strangely I don't tend to go round taking photos of grills - and I couldn't be bothered trying to figure out what to search for to find a proper one.)

It's not a hot plate, it's racking. And you put your meat on the racking and fire shoots down and cooks from the top. So I'm going to assume it's very similar to what you have.

I can only find shit pictures, so I can't really do more than describe it, or take my own picture.
