I know but.. Sony..
Last place I used to work for had a dev environment synched daily from live more or l less - they had about 70 employees, so not exactly a big company, but having a good test environment was crucial.

Sony, eh?

Yeah, Sony is so good they don't need no stinking tests right!?

Everything they produce is almost a piece of God. Not.

Even Apple with their immeasurable arrogance test things pretty damn well (antenna fiasco aside), so Sony have no excuse.

100% agree. There is no excuse for a lack of security. It's one thing to get hit with a zero day. Quite another to be lax!

The PSN "Welcome back package" is now 2 free games from a list of 5.

Also, look out for more information on the rest of our Welcome Back programme, including which free content you will be eligible for. We will be offering PSN users the opportunity to select two PS3 games from a list of five, as well as offering PSP users the opportunity to choose two games from a list of four. We will let you know exactly what games are available very soon.

They should have break-ins like this more often!

PSN is back up here. Is it up for you now? I have been reading about a lot of people trading in their consoles and games. Did you do that yet?

If I can pick up a PS3 for £50, I'm getting one. Hehehe.

Me too. And that probably won't hit Sony that hard financially. If they end up with a fresh set of customers who have bought traded in PS3s it might even be good for them.

I only want one to fiddle with tbh, I'm crap at playing console games.

Now decision time - what two games should I get?
From: 99% of gargoyles look like (MR_BASTARD)17 May 2011 12:03

...and whose credit card should you use?
From: milko17 May 2011 12:05
To: koswix 138 of 157
If you've not got Wipeout already, that should be one. I have it and I'm thinking about getting it anyway so I'd have the Fury expansion. But then I'd have to play it off disc... but then I'd not have it taking up hdd space. Oh I dunno.

Littlebigplanet is great. Bettered by its sequel though.

I must say, I'm not massively enthused by any of the offers. Pretty old games that I'd not bother picking up if I saw them on sale for a tenner. Guess I'll go for Dead Nation and either Ratchet & Clank or Infamous. And trade whichever of the latter in.

I'm thinking Ratchet and Clank and possibly Dead Nation.

Report: Sony PlayStation Network Password Reset Page Exploited, Customer Accounts Potentially Compromised

It keeps getting better and better! I'd sell those things!

Holy crap, what a farce this is.

If I'm understanding how the exploit works correctly, they are (were) revealing the unique secret token sent in the email in the request reset page! :|

Do we get a 3rd game now or what?
From: Ken (SHIELDSIT)18 May 2011 20:04
To: Matt 142 of 157
That's how I understood it as well. That's something that I would do, because I enjoy passing parameters in the url. But even I don't pass secrets there!

It gets better!

F-Secure is reporting that Sony's Website for Sony Thailand has been hacked and was being used as a phishing site for an Italian credit card scam. Reuters is also reporting that a Japanase Sony site was hacked and about 100,000 yen ($1,225) was stolen from accounts that were attacked.
quote:
At this point in our investigations, we have not confirmed any data leakage. We have not found any sign of a possibility that a third party has obtained members' names, address, birth dates and phone numbers.

Security experts have told Reuters that Sony's networks around the world remain vulnerable to attack.
Seriously Sony needs to shut down all online operations immediately. People are going to continue to attack them and they should focus on securing everything.
