I couldn't get the new minecraft.exe launcher to connect to the authentication server regardless of the . jar file version I had.

 

I found a copy of the old launcher on the net, after downloading the new one mislabelled as the old one at least 5 times, and now it works. Had to delete the bin folder entirety to get it to update though.

 

Seems Mojang know the new launcher isn't working, yet they still have it on the website. Would it kill them to take it down while they can't get the bloody thing to work?

Ah - is the new launcher in an exe too? I'm stillusing the JAR that notch put out last week.

Yeah, if you download minecraft.exe from the official site you get the new launcher, which doesn't work.

I've been trying to use the browser version but it's no good on my laptop. Works great at work though :$

I always had to re-destroy misplaced stuff. Generally took 2-3 attempts to correct a mistake.

(Removing natural landscape blocks was generally fine, except when it lagged.)
