Bleh, apparently powered minecarts don't work on 1.8.1. I need to move large amounts of stuff from one side of the map to the other but I'll probably need to wait for an upgrade. :/

 

Also, where is everybody? This place used to be /bustling/, don't tell me everyone is bored of it already. :<

I've been playing a bit of 1.0 as well and I can't wait for Teh to update, but I still prefer the idea of playing in a shared world with all you lovely people. I also don't want to have to deal with mobs all the damn time while I'm trying to build, although I do quite like the mobs in the context of survival mode.

and I finally set up my own server on my LAN so Jake ( and I ) can have mobs on

 

and I can't finish my dome without more height anyway :(

When's the height thing going to be adjusted? What release do we have to wait for for that?

 

Also can we turn off the need to eat thing on Teh Server? If it's just about the building and not about the surviving, eating seems to be a tad daft.

I think the height thing is sorted in new releases, I suspect the problem on teh server is adjusting the height of already existing chunks

The height wasn't actually adjusted in new releases, it's just been made easier to mod for more height.

And... yeah I'm bored of Minecraft. Or rather burned out on it after making Citadel and Hagia Sofia. I'm also not keen on the direction the latest updates are taking it, it's not concentrating on its strengths and rather trying to turn it into something it isn't and isn't good at.

After a while I may get into it again though.

I wasn't referring to ease of killing (although I've not even got close enough to hit one yet; stupid bastards teleport too much), but Notch's intent in creating them.

 

I don't recall ever being killed by a Creeper, and only a couple of times (when I first started) did one ruin anything I've built.

I find they have a habit of sneaking up behind me, and have had a couple jump off cliffs to sky-bomb me!

I agree so hard with this it's like I am agreeing with steel! No idea what that means, but it sure sounded good in my brain.

I want it to be alchemy/legos. I want to be able to invent/discover things that no one else has by mixing different types of materials and crap. Not that I would, because I'm lazy and not very inventive, but that to me is what the game should have been. There are already enough rpg/monster games.

Without hostile mobs, Minecraft is Dull Dull Dull.

The RPG elements are meh, but having everything perfectly safe and un-dangerous just gets tedious.
