The only thing that seems to interest me off that list is Biome Caves.

I wonder if it's possible to tweak the terrain generator for larger landmasses/seas.

That would be quite nice. I also wouldn't mind seeing a bit more vertical variety, stuff like valleys and canyons and some proper mountainous mountains (maybe when the ceiling height is raised (I didn't dream that right, it is happening?)).

I think it's happening, although in the meantime you could lower the floor next to a mountain to make it appear taller. You could even empty a lake/sea and have a ready-made valley. Emptying the sea takes quite a bit of work.

Yeah I know you could build that kind of thing with a lot of time and effort, but that's not really the point. I'd like to come across something like that while exploring and build something in/on/around/near it. I like the idea of building a house on a mountaintop (and then obviously hollowing out the mountain to make an evil lair), it can be a very beautiful game in a strange way. :')

Does anyone know of any minecraft mod that can edit blocks from an API in real time?

I figured it'd be pretty easy to edit the map files from a web interface (I've already written code to read it, so writing wont be hard), but I'd like the updates to be real time.

Max height on the Y axis is 128 isn't it?

From bedrock, aye.

I'm building a dome, I found a site that tells me where to lay all the blocks if I give them the radius, so I very carefully measured the diameter ...

Ahhhh, and used that as your radius.

Server back up if you knew it was down.... updated CraftBukkit - build 1060.

Should fix the wiping signs/chests bug, but won't give you anything that you've lost back.

If there's anything you really want (that has been lost due to the bug) just say.

I think it's actually 0..127

And you can't place blocks on the top level (but you can place signs/torches/etc).

I made a tower and f3 said my y=128 - few mins ago

You were probably at 128 but the top block wasn't because you were on top of it.

All this time looking at the dynamic map and I've just realised it's got an isometric view. I'd seem a couple of mentions of iso in the chat window but assumed people just meant the top down map. It's so much smoother now it's updated.

I wonder if the increased height for 1.8 will apply to old levels. How much difference will that have on bandwidth requirements and will it be optional?

Notch doesn't read this forum, and he's probably the only one that can answer those questions.
(Because nobody outside Mojang knows how it is/will be implemented.)

You'd have lousy grammar if that's all you did. :P

The dynamic map does seem a bit better now.

Although it's now only got in/out zoom buttons - no ability to instantly zoom to a specific level which the slider provided. And my mouse wheel doesn't zoom unless I scroll 3+ clicks quickly, which is stupid and annoying.

Seems the colours have changed /again/ (for no apparent reason?) though not as significantly as before.

Oh, and the squares that were not loading before still aren't loading. :(
