Teh Mine

Easily testable by moving in a circle around /home or /spawn while facing the same direction.

Yeah, definitely /home for me.

He's talking about /compass which is either a core server or bukkit command. It's currently on the server but returns a permissions error.

Since we've got the information with /getpos I don't think we really need /compass as well, but if it doesn't take you long to do then it'll stop Lucy whining so might as well do it.

I never use getpos because... I can just look where the sun is or whatever. Or if I'm underground I'll press f3.

This is a different thing, this is an in-game thing. It's much easier to glance as the compass in my hotbar than to open the console and type a command. More immediate and physical, too.

Oh right /compass rather than the actual compass?

Well we all have /compass now which will tell you what bearing you're facing including N..NE..E..SE..S etc

So you mean the actual compass item. I think there is a plugin that can do that, not sure if it's a setting I can change with Bukkit. If it was I doubt there would be a plugin.

What is?

You wrote this before:
quote:
I believe he tried it in console and it said "you do not have permission to blah blah". Search the logs for 'north', should do it.

He typed /compass into the console to get that.

If you want something visual, you need a specific mod to do that.

Didn't realise that was what Jon was talking about.

Yes, I want the in-game compasses to point North. That would be nice. It's not a big deal at all though so not worth wasting time over.

I've wasted the appropriate amount of time and the compass now points North.

What blocks would people really like?
I mean blocks that aren't in the game.

I would like Sandstone and Stone steps, rather than having to do slabs.

Or maybe I'm not using slabs are creatively as I should.

I would like for all logic circuits (well, the basic ones - logic gates, flip flops, monostable circuits and so on) to be makeable as single blocks, like relays are now. Because circuits get ridiculously big.

I would like to be able to dye glass.

I would like something that glows, like glowstone, but doesn't look like shit.

And I would like to be able to make chickens be my pets, like you can with wolves.

I've not bothered with pet wolves but pet other things I might be interested in!

More slabs! Specifically glass ones.

I want boats that don't fall apart at the slightest provocation. That's not a block, but it's bloody annoying and needs fixing.

I want consistency - no reason not to allow steps and slabs for all solid blocks.

You should be able to stain glass and paint wood and stone (maintaining texture & properties).

Dyes should not be limited in colour - there should be the ability to mix unlimited combinations to produce subtly different shades.

I want scaffolding that can be placed and quickly removed, with less tool damage (I hate it when grass grows on mud and it takes three times as long to remove).

Lodestone and redstonemagnets, to allow currents to pass across coridoors without wires.

Oh, and an ore sensor, to allow digging in dark caves without having to waste time placing torches to work out if you're seeing iron or just imagining it.

And lots more stuff probably.

Re: the scaffolding thing...

Build sand pillars over torches/rails. Then when you're done, hit the bottom sand block (the one above the torch/rail) and the rest will collapse into a drop.
