I can't stop using Facebook until at least my family switches, and there's already plenty of annoyingly dumb people on G+ - just read comments on any popular person's posts. :'(

You're right. Some of them are just a big circle jerk. I think the only safe thing for us is to stay here.

/getpos gives Yaw, where 0=North, 90=East, 180=South, 270=West

Or F3 gives you some number between 0 and 3 which would tell you which direction you're facing if you can be bothered to remember what the numbers mean. Which I can't.

 

Or there's /compass, which just plain tells you a direction, but I'm not sure whether that would be an extra mod.

Exactly. I think someone said 0 is West, which is dumb. And F3 fills up the whole screen with annoying info, and can't be as easily displayed/toggled whilst in the middle of a conversation.

Compass is either core server or part of Bukkit Essentials but hasn't been enabled for non-admins. Since getpos gives more information without being too invasive I don't know if there's any benefit in enabling it, unless there are people that can't deal with the 360° of a circle? :P

Uh, I know. I was pointing out that the command was available, after a discussion about how the F 1/2/3/0 was stupid.


Where I wrote "fills the whole screen" you can read that as "obscures the useful bits of the screen", because that's what I meant. The stupid CPU graph is in the bottom left hiding the chat area whatever resolution you have.

And isn't there supposed to be an "L" on cobblestone that faces in a certain direction all the time? I've never been able to see it.

Anyone seen this - appeared on Neowin today, s'all about a new minecraft enemy called the Enderman. Seems bloody stupid to me. It'd just get in the way of the building.

Saw a screenshot a few days ago - I prefer it on teh mine with mobs off anyway I think.

Yeah, I prefer the mining/building with only the threat of lava and heights that can kill you. And probably water, if there's enough of it.

No idea what that is, but I think someone alluded to it a few hundred posts back - is it supposed to be a mob in there, but 'cos they're turned off it becomes one of the animals? Don't know why it's on fire or in a cage though.

No issue for us since we have mobs off. Since I don't play survival mode I don't care about any new mobs.
