Well to be honest, building an underground city wouldn't necessarily require creativity, just a lot of work. Plus, you could put areas aside for people to build their own stuff in.

Everest.

My grand idea was a pyramid. Everest is a pretty big undertaking!

I started mentally planning great underground cities about two or three times.

 

This was back in single player, with monsters and stone picks, so needless to say I spent a lot of effort getting not even close to being a hamlet. :'S

Kos already did a big pyramid.


I changed my mind, I don't want Everest.

I want Mauna Kea. :P

What about a model of the earth? Complete with core (glowstone), mantle (lava), crust (rock) then surface details (dirt, water and sand)?

That sounds hard!

Here is what I think I've decided on. I am going to try to include the ride that is inside as well!

Man I think obsidian would look really sweet for the outside, but I only have like 10 block of it!

Woe betide if you accidentally put a block of obsidian in the wrong place, too.

It can, but it takes about 30 seconds to do so. It very quickly becomes tiresome, plus it wears out your tools something fierce.

Ah so the same as getting it in the first place. It's such a pain in the ass getting it!

I've been inside that. The ride was shat, wouldn't bother. I'll make a roller coaster run through it when you've finished.
