I put some saplings and a few other random things into one of your storage chests last night before I went looking for caves.

 

Anyway, I don't want the diamonds. I just want tools that don't wear out every 50 yards.

You can take some diamonds from me! and sticks! and make tools!

Nothing really. You can make brick blocks but they're purely aesthetic.

So, can it be crafted with other things? I can see how diamonds, wood etc would be useful, but is clay merely cosmetic?

you can't make clay, you have to find it, you can use it to make bricks, I think that's about it
notch mucked up something so clay is rarer than diamonds now
so a brick house would be REALLY show-offy ;)

Can you turn that command on so you can see who is on the server while in the game?
