Actually, no, all that required very little thought/effort. :P

Words take a lot more effort than thoughts - I could have written twice as much as there is there, but it takes too long translating ideas into words and then getting my hands to transcribe them. :(

why does my portal lead to the exact same place as yours?

They're too close together.

Nether compresses space, so any portals too close both link to the same nether portal.

how far apart do they have to be?

Uh, don't remember that much.


Ok, found it - any portals within 1024 blocks (in x/z dimensions) will link to the same nether portal (because Nether is 1/8th the size, and a portal has a "range" of 128 blocks within which it connects, and 8*128 is 1024.

Oooh... interesting... but that's guns and grenades, and has two teams, and you can't dig below sea level, and there's only one type of block, and there's no crafting, doors, lava, animals, or redstone. Worst of all though, it's got a fucking shit name. :@

If you go to minecraft's website and play it in the browser and tell it to connect to the teh server is it really connecting? I did it but it doesn't look like the real teh world to me.

What does it look like?

An easy way to check if you're connecting is to load this page:

http://wakeupbomb.no-ip.org:8123/

Then see if your name pops up when you connect.

If it doesn't, you're probably not on the server.
